Viktor Wolf, born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1986, is a versatile woodwind player and composer based in Berlin. His musical heart beats for the tenor saxophone, yet his instruments cover almost the entire range of woodwinds. As a sought-after musician in a wide variety of ensembles he tours worldwide and can be heard on radio, television and CD productions. He realises his artistic vision above all in his own ensemble PanoramaPeng.

He studied at the Mannheim University of Music and at the Jazz-Institut Berlin, where he received formative impulses from teachers such as Claudio Puntin, Holly Schlot, Greg Cohen, Peter Weniger, Kurt Rosenwinkel and John Hollenbeck. Even in his final concert he combined a rich variety of sounds with innovative composition and wrote a suite for an unusual trio of violin, tuba and saxophone. A few years later this idea grew into PanoramaPeng. With the ensemble he released his debut album “Mountain Lion Dance” in 2017 and went on to present it at venues including the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Gedächtniskirche Berlin.

Alongside his own music he is a valued member of numerous bands and projects and has taken part in international productions in Europe, the USA, Mexico, India, Morocco, Yemen, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and Indonesia. His versatility also shows in engagements as a principal player in renowned theatre and musical productions.

His own ensemble · since 2015

Viktor Wolf first presented the Berlin-based group in 2015 at the Strefa Cizy Festival in Warsaw. The pieces are original compositions that he wrote especially for this line-up and that leave room for each musician to improvise.

For many years I have combined my artistic work with teaching: in instrumental lessons, with ensembles and wind classes, as a music teacher at a secondary school and in music education projects.

The Weichsel Sharks as a jazz trio with drums, saxophone and double bass

The Weichsel Sharks jazz band has been around since 2021 and plays improvised jazz of the highest artistic standard at private celebrations, weddings and corporate events. As bandleader I am responsible for the concept, the marketing, communication with clients, organising the musicians, project management and invoicing.
